Surf Swimming PT - bring friend free!


Scared of the surf?
No worries you are in good company! Coach Spot has loads of tricks to help you relax & go faster! Depending on your ability listed below is an order we use to get you confident in the surf before we attempt bigger wave surfing!

1. Review of the surf conditions.

2. Warm up swim where you start slow & for some swimmers this means simply floating in the water whilst others it’s just having a slower arm cycle &/ or less kick!

3. Getting out through the surf. Spot will encourage you to dive under waves early & stay under a little longer than you are used to it! This allows the white water to pass over you & when you surface start swimming straight away!

4. Navigating - great surf swimmers lift & look often so this is what you will be taught to do. We will line up markers along the coastline & you will learn to swim in a straight line!

5. Swimming in the deep blue sea. This takes time to adjust & you only get good at it by doing it. Coach Spot will always stay with you until you are ready to be set free.

6. Catching waves is possibly everyone’s favourite. It’s all about timing & position whether it’s big or small swell. Spot will show you the best place to position yourself either standing on a sand bank or out the back in deeper water.

* Minimum safety standard for private surf swim is 200 metres non-stop freestyle.
